Incorporating innovative B-cell targeting therapeutics into a combined-modality bridging approach followed by timely consolidative haploidentical transplantation to salvage a pediatric patient with relapsed/refractory diffuse large B-cell lymphoma
This case describe the treatment of a young girl with relapsed/refractory diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) which is complex and multifaceted. After progressing through standard chemotherapy and CAR T-cell therapy, received a combined-modality approach with polatuzumab vedotin (anti-CD79a antibody-drug conjugate), rituximab, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and subsequently haploidentical stem cell transplant from her father. She remarkably achieved complete remission and is over a year post-transplant and disease-free, with immune reconstitution, restored quality of life.
This report demonstrates the potential of adapting adult immunotherapy strategies to lymphomas in children with a more challenging prognosis.
