This time, the EMBO workshop was held in the beautiful country of Portugal, at a scenic seaside location. In addition to exchanging research insights with scholars from around the world, I gained a great deal from the conference, which helped me clarify the direction of my own research. After the meeting, I joined a small tour organized by the hosts to explore this picturesque country. From its diverse religious beliefs and traditional churches to the locally distinctive souvenirs, we had a unique and enriching experience in this unfamiliar land.
